Hey guys,

I took this picture of this steam locomotive that is leaving the Pomona fair grounds and is going to be restored in whyoming, my dad is a big train buff so i want to get this picture printed on canvas that is 16"x48" and give it to him for Christmas. But i was hoping it could be cleaned up a bit before i get it printed, for example remove the yellow parking space lines, remove the cones, and power lines and any other unwanted items from the picture and maybe a subtle color correction correction.

Im not sure how to upload the full 5175x1425 pixel image to this forum... but here is link to it, please forgive the photobucket link

I suggest that in addition to cleaning up the various extraneous elements in the photo, you also give serious thought to also:

a) brightening your image;
b) bringing out detail in the dark areas; and,
c) consider a black and white (or sepia toned B&W) for the final print.

Below is an animated GIF that illustrates some of these possibilities, but I did absolutely nothing to clean up the parking lines and other items you mentioned.

Cheers,

Tom

PS - BTW, I intentionally exaggerated the effects I used to make them easy to see. Obviously, one can easily blend back in any amount of the original to continuously vary the amount of any of these efx.

Hi Sean - To minimize the amount of spam, new members can't post links till they have around a half-dozen posts. However, you should be able to post the image itself. The width or file size shouldn't be a problem.

To post the photo, click on "Go Advanced", and then "Manage Attachments". If you have problems with this, there's a little tutorial someone put together and I'll try to find it for you.

Arghhh...sorry. Try this: Zip your file and use the same procedure to attach it. The uploading software will probably say that it doesn't recognize that file type, but will post it nevertheless.

See if that works.

Tom

Hey Mikey!........ I'm impressed, you've come along way, nice work! keep it up!

Thanks guys I am not happy though , as I missed some lines, and never saw the original.
