Most of the known spiral galaxies fall into this "barred" category - which are defined by the pronounced bar structure across their centres.
The presence of this structure may be an indication of a galaxy's age.
Two-thirds of nearby, younger galaxies have the bar, while only a fifth of older, more distant spirals have it.

No mate just pulling your chain lol, whats your thoughts on string theory and black holes as dimensional teleporters?
 
Are you one of the new breed of thought thinkers on life out there or are you an old school die hards?
 
i think there is a high probability that any kind of extra terrestrial life would actually be somewhat similar to the way we are by the time it has the power to contact, or even communicate with us, simply because spoken language is the only feasible method of high speed, long distance communication, pheromones are too slow as they need to dissipate. visual language such as hand signs, or light are too short range, unless you live on a dark planet, in which case you probably wouldn't evolve to have good vision. written language would have to be preceded by another more basic form of communication. telepathic communication would be a viable method, but i am unsure if it's even possible. for a species to have a complex, high speed vocal communication they would be by my definition similar to us, at least enough for us to communicate with them with relative ease

i also believe that there is very little chance of other species having already contacted us, because either intelligent life is so common that coming here would be like going half way around the world to go to wendy's, or it's so uncommon that we will probably never see another variety.

now if we do contact another species, i want it to be on our terms, because anything more advanced would be likely to steal our resources.
 
I like the last portion, 'them coming here to steal' this is such a sci fi reply.
Why would they travel such distances to 'steal' our gold/oil/water/air/minerals even us...?
They would be that far in an advanced state to ours that they would have no need to even come here, curiosity maybe.
It's still a good debate if there is anything out there, for me yes there is in whatever form, are we of earth that ignorant or are we just putting our heads in the sand?

If worm holes do exist and theres no reason for them not to, maybe this would make an excellent way to travel the heavens and just maybe 'aliens' are here now watching us from another dimensional state that we just cannot comprehend yet.

The scientific laws state that the further from the bang it is, the older it is, ergo - older means more advanced so who knows?

well stars only last so long, so the farther from the bang it is, the more likely it is to have already died, and reformed
 
older doesnt mean more advance.
they could be all old and dumb
just look at earth there are dumb people here
 
It's a relative concept mate, the thinking is that the further it is the more chance of it being more advanced (theoretically).
Take the Egyptians and the Aztec they created a civil system of existence, while most of the countries we all live in ran around nude or near nude grunting, in the bigger picture look at earth as the running around near nude grunting and somewhere out there advanced civilisations with abilities way beyond ours (maybe).
