Any advice appreciated.

I have this image:

and I want to make the radiator grille and the three black sections underneath silver. The radiator grille kind of looks silver but it's actually black.

Any experts want to show me the kind of output I could hope to achieve?

Many thanks for reading.

One real quick idea, select the area invert it to white and then add chrome effect I'm sure it will need tweaking though.

Select the area and copy/paste it on a new layer. Select the curve tool and adjust the curve to make it brighter. Maybe do it twice to get the desired effect.

an easy way but fiddely would be to add a hue saturation adjustment layer and move the lightness slider up to around +80 and set that layer blending mode to screen.

then invert the layer mask ( control + I) and then with a hard brush on the layer mask paint in white to just reveal the grills in this case I only did the top grill as that is nice quick and easy click 1 end of a grill line hold shift click the opposite end and repeate for each grill line (no idea what the actual name is for each section)

However this will take a lot more to do on the bottom grills as they are not all straight lines however can still be achieved visually using a finer brush and just catching the highlights but I will say you will struggle because there is not a lot of contrast between the grill and the car body so will be a tough selection.

but whichever method you use if you want good results it will take a long time on your selection and even then I am not sure you will achieve it 100 %, you can probably make the selection and remove that part of the image and maybe replace in another image with a chrome grill and blend that in easier.

You could always find a picture of the car with the chrome grill and replace it with that or find the chrome grill itself for sale, pictures of it and use that

make your own grill lol I turned this chain link fence image into a replacement grill ok not the same but it gives you an idea.
