How to this kind of "effect" with texture

Hey guys, I"m not that new to Photoshop, but I still never knew how to make this kind of "effect" or I don't even know how to call it, and that's why I decided to ask for help right here.
So basically I want to make wooden texture to look like basketball court/floor in these images, but I don't know how to rotate or distance it, to make it look like this:

So pretty much how to make wooden texture look like floor in those images.

The Lebron image looks like a simple composite. A selection of the player is made. The lion image is on the next layer above. Lebron is placed on the layer above that. Then all the pieces are moved around till they are lined up as you want them.

After that, other adjustments are made to create the color balance, lighting, etc., so that it all works together.

As for Team USA, the lighting effect is placed on top, then it appears a layer mask has been applied and the faces have the lighting effect removed. How to do this specific effect I'm not sure. I have some ideas, but I think other members would have better advice. The bodies have been treated with filter effects from plugins. Something similar could be achieved in Photoshop, but it depends on what route you want to go.

The USA team might possibly be selections of the three figures together, then also placed on the floor background, but I couldn't say; I don't think so.
