Hi,

When saving a .PNG file in Photoshop CS5 the only option that appears is Interlace (None / Interlaced). Is there any other preferences that could be set (e.g. the compression level)?

Thanks in advance,
Cadu

If I remember, .png files are a "downsized" gif, but having a smaller file size with a larger image....so I do not think in any version of photoshop since CS4 you have anything more to pick. That should be covered in adobe help .

PNG options.png Thanks for answering! In Ps CS5 "save as" just allow me to select the interlace option. I couldn't see the compression option. Any idea of what is going on?

Hi Cadu - The usual problem one runs into with saving png's in PS is that the entire option has disappeared because the image is in CMYK or some other mode that is not supported by png's. I've never seen a case where only some of the save-as-png options have disappeared.

I tried to get this behavior to occur in PS CS6 by trying different combinations of color mode, numbers of layers, presence of transparency, etc. but couldn't do so. PS either showed me both options or wouldn't allow me to save as a PNG at all. Perhaps CS5 is different than CS6 in this regard, but I don't recall ever running into this when I was using 5.

This may be one of those cases where you may want to try resetting all options within PS by deleting the preferences file:

Thanks for information Tom.
Even deleting the Ps preferences, the PNG options are just to interlace.
I will see how it works in a CS6 from a friend of me.
