Hi Guys,

First time poster - and photoshop newbie here!

Could anyone give me any advice on how to replicate Google Plus header image, where the left hand side is almost darkened a bit and blurred (example attached)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

The main difference between your example and the one from the link I provided you is that the blurred area is a separate image.
Basically the same technique..........unless the plugin that Spruce referred to was used.

This is a very quick example..

Two images were placed side by side and one was darkened and a blur was added.
