how to remove this symbol... see image

What is this symbol for... How can it be removed from a work in progress?

This is a color sample point.
Hold Alt/Option + click to delete

Note: On my Mac, with the eyedropper tool selected, I have to use Shift + Alt/Opt + click to delete.

Use the Info panel drop-down to remove them all at once. Uncheck Color Samplers.

Thanks... that also pretty much explains what they are. Did not know, and I've been using Photoshop since version 3 -- 20, 25 years.
