Tp speed up my iMac running Sonoma I am thinking of moving my Adobe apps, Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, Illustrator etc to a new ssd external drive to try to speed it all up. I only have 150gb of space left on my 1tb hard disk so hopefully it will help. How do I get all my Adobe apps to an external drive? Do I have to download them all again? Or can I install from a backup disk. Will this affect Creative Cloud updates? I have a subscription photographer account.

Hi @MixPix
How much it helps depends on your iMac system and the speeds.of the external interface lines compared to what the external drive supports for those buses and speeds.
If the size and speed of your internal drive are your #1 issue, then it is also worth considering upgrading the internal SSD (or HD). OWC has fast 2TB SSDs for the iMacs from 2013 to 2019 at around $200 (note the 4TB drives offered are much slower). I don't know if it is still valid, yet I have found SSDs can slow down when they reach 50% full point.
In any case, here is a link to OWC if that is of interest: https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/imac
