How to make this effect?

Hey there.

I'm trying out some new things, and I need to know what this effect is called/how to search for it or just how to make it if any of you can help out. It's basically colored fluid being dropped into water, but I'm having a hard time finding a tutorial for it. Similar to a lava lamp effect or swirls on decorated glass. Let me know if you can help/if it's doable in photoshop.

possibly liquify filter, under filter in menu 5th one down

brushes to make the things i guess, then liquify as said above (by iDad ) and added some collor in a layer above and set the layer to soft light or play with it (my favourite blending mode)

Very cool. Are you sure it isn't a photo to begin with?

It is a photo, but I agree with Burned Ice; real life phenomena should be photoshoppable .

I think some smoke brushes may get you started.

I am a newbie to. It`s the liquifying Filter. You can play with it all day. I have never come across a tutorial for it.
