As the title saying, I'm looking for an efficient way to combine multiple images (10 - 20 pics,Cropped , different sizes.) into a single, long JPEG file.

The way I used before (inefficient)
1. Add all images into the same document (Using script)
2. Align all images to the left
3. Find the edge of the shortest width pics and set it to the Guide line.
4. Using "View-Snap, Snap to guide line"
5. Re-crop every single pics except the smallest.
6. Lay out them.

I presume that you considered other ways to put multiple images into a single file (ie, the title of this thread) such as an animated GIF, and that doesn't meet your needs, right?.

Obviously, an animated GIF can/will have a very different layout / aspect ratio and give a very different way to present the images to the viewer, but certainly is easy to do and may be useful for some applications

Load all files into layers in 1 step:

(Note: this could replace your 1st step in your workflow)

Make frames from layers:

If the final product absolutely has to be a very tall thin image, then I have a question: Are the aspect ratios of all the individual images all the same (even though their pixel dimensions may be different)?

Also, have you considered using one of the programs that makes photo collages. I seem to remember that at least a couple of them allow the user to specify the number of rows and columns, so you could set it to N rows by 1 column. If you have other constraints such as "no space allowed between adjacent pix in the vertical direction", pls. let us know.
