[How to Make Hipster Rapunzel?]

how to make hipster rapunzel I've seen them all over the net and wanna to know how to make one myself here is a en example of onelarge.jpg I've tired doing it but I've failed if anyone can help me that would be great

Hello Elizabeth and welcome to PSG. I have looked at a few of the "hipster Rapunzel" and yours is just as good if not better than most. How do you think you have failed?

One thing that would help is if you could see Pascal's feet over the tee and the flowery headband could use a shadow.

Elizabeth Pfeffer , I would really like to help you out here.

What is your level of experience with Photoshop?

Do you understand how to use the Pen Tool, Brush Tool, Clone Brush Tool, and Layer Masks,
 
Here is a quickie Hipster Rapunzel I did using this image of a "Hipster Girl" search I did with Google Images.

I had to use all the Photoshop tools I mentioned above. The most prominent was the use of the Brush Tool and layer masks.

(p.s. - I know that gravity would affect the scarf as well, just didn't have time to work on it!)

Fixed one part of the scarf.........on to the next.

My level of photoshop is at the beginner level. I've used gimp which is another photoshop program that I love. I know how to do a lot in gimp with photoshop its a learning process right now I do know of the tools you've mentioned
 
OK, that's a starting point.

Do you have any example of hipster clothing that you would like to place on Rapunzel?

Let's see what you have tried so far.
 
Ok, lets start with the Owl tee.

You need to open the image containing the tee.

First remove the white BG using the Magic Eraser Tool.
Then make a selection around the tee using the Polygonal Lasso Tool.
Or, you could just make a selection of the tee using the Quick Selection Tool.

Either way you make the selection, then hit Cmd/Cntrl + J to duplicate the selection to it's own layer.

Once you have it on it's own layer, then copy and paste it into the Rapunzel image document.

Once you have your selection of the tee, hit Cmd/Cntrl + C to copy.
Go to the other document (Rapunzel), create a new layer and hit Cmd/Cntrl + V to paste.

Hey there,
First of all it seems that you resized the shirt to fit the HIGH resolution Rapunzel picture, try resizing the rapunzel picture to the shirt - that way you wont get as much pixelation
 
Once you have the tee copied into the Rapunzel document, convert it into a smart object.

Use the free transform function to resize and position the tee to where you like it.
I find this is sometimes easier when you lower the opacity of the layer your trying to position.
Don't worry if it's not perfect, we're going to take care of that.

Ok, let's do some quick layer arranging.

You should have the tee layer on top.
The Rapunzel image layer next.

Let's add a white background layer at the bottom.

Next, add a layer mask to the top two layers.

Now select your Brush Tool.

On the Tools Option Bar at the top, set your Mode to normal, your opacity to 100%, your flow to about 75%

On the Brush Tools Panel, set your Hardness to 70%, set your spacing to 1%.

Turn off the Rapunzel layer (Original copy) and highlight/select the tee layer.
Click once on the tee layers - layer mask so you see the white brackets around the mask.

Now, with the Brush Tool set to black, begin to clean up the edges of the tee.

Before we move on lets deal with Pascal.

Turn off your tee layer.
Turn on and highlight/select your Rapunzel layer.

Click on the Rapunzel image thumbnail so you see the white brackets around it.

Zoom in closer to Pascal.
Choose your Rectangular Marquis Tool and make a selection around him like this....

Now on your keyboard, hit Cmd/Cntrl + J to copy the selection to it's own layer.

In the layers panel, move Pascal's layer to the top and turn it off for now. we will come back to him later.

Now Highlight/select the Rapunzel layer and click on it's layer mask, make sure you see the white brackets around the layer mask.

Again with the Brush Tool set to black, let's brush out any parts of Rapunzel we don't want to see.
If you make a mistake, just use white with your Brush Tool to bring it back.
