How to make "dynamic" copies of a group of objects?

Hello, I'm Andrea and this is my first post on this forum.

I use PS to design the labels for my beer bottles. I've designed an A4 format in wihch I've placed 6 copies of the same label. After printing th sheet I use a cutter to obtain the single labels.

At now I have a template with the graphics of the label but without text (infact the text depends on the type of beer I'm labeling). When I have to make a specific label I write the text and copy-paste it in all the label....this is sooooooooooooo boring. I'd like to ask if it would be possible to create dynamyc copies of the "first" label, with dynamic I mean that when I make some change in the original label (changing texts for example), the other copies will be automatically updated without make plenty copy-paste's....is it possible? In case how?

I hope that I've been able to explain in an "understandable" way what I need (my English isn't so good as I wanted it to be)

Thanks and regards
Andrea

Its possible, yes.

You need 2 documents:
1. Your Labels.
2. Your text.

You've done the 'Label' document so just open that in PS.
Open a NEW document for your text.
Type your text in that document, for once, size doesn't matter.
Save that document as a psd file in the normal way....say as 'label text'......don't close this document, you'll need it.

The clever bit:
Go back to your 'label' document.
Use File > Place Linked...
Select your 'text' psd document.

[Depending on preferences]:
The text will now be on a layer in the form of a smart object, (or not), and be in 'transform' mode.
You can adjust the size of the text to fit one of the labels.
Accept any changes you make and then position the text over one of the labels, (if you haven't already).
Copy this 'text' layer, (duplicate layer), a further 5 times and position them over the remaining labels.

Save the file.

Now whenever you change the text in your 'text' file the layers in the 'Label' file willl update.....you do need to have both documents open though and remember to save the documents for the changes to take effect.

Regards.
MrTom.
