How to make a microscope from your old webcam.

[h=2]Things you'll need:[/h]
  • An old webcam
  • Something to look at - ie. petals, strands of hair, grains of sand etc
  • A small screwdriver
  • Plastic cutters or small nail scissors
  • Thick cardboard
  • Three long machine screws
  • Six nuts which fit on the machine screws
  • Glass or acrylic slide
  • Electrical tape
  • A torch (with a filament bulb)

Or spend a few bucks for a macro attachment for your phone..... Lol
That is an ingenious idea though.

This is the sort of thing experimenters like Lisa (aka "FallenAngel") should love.

I would add one comment to his suggested approach: By adjusting the spacing between the sensor and what used to be the front of the reversed lens, one can control the magnification. If you want more magnification, add a spacer -- if you want less magnification, do whatever it takes to get them closer.
