Hi all, i was wondering if anyone can shed some light on how this blotchy/shaded effect is achieved on this logo example ? It seems to be a popular style at the moment and i am looking to replicate it. I think i could achieve it but not necessary the most effective way. For example if i had a logo drawn out as a solid colour, ctrl click the layer ( to select the logo outlines ) contract the selection by a few pixels to create a border and heres where I'm stumped... Look forward to your responses guru's !

Hi Danny and welcome to PSG.

There are many ways to accomplish effects in Photoshop.

Here might be one way this effect was done in your example...

In this case it's only text.
The text is added to the BG.
The text is then selected and the selection reduced in size.
On a new layer, the Brush Tool is used with scatter settings and and a similar brush as the one used above to add the texture within the reduced selection.

A really fast example...
