How to get rid of scanned background

Hi
Im very new to photoshop and i have a few scanned images but when i print them off the white background has a blueish tinge to it, Just wondering what the best way is to remove this so i only have the black and white line images.
Thanks for anyones help

You`re scanning line art ?

If that`s the case, you`ll need to select the lines by magic wand(click the background, Guasian blur 1 pixel) and delete, or take it into the Channels Pallette, clean it up as necessary, save the selection, go back the the Layers Pallette, and delete the background, or one of several other methods, and save the image as a transparent .gif.

If your not scanning line art, ignore this post.
