how to fix this photo?

can anyone guide me as to how can i fix this photo so that i can view the text & images clearly.
( i have photoshop cs3 with me)

The left side is badly scanned (damaged) can't do much.
The overall aspect can be improved by tweaking the brigthness and contrast, maybe using a bit of shapening

tried that! but only an increase of about 40%.
is there no plugin to do this?
