Illustrator How to fill a shape?

Hey guys,

After using Photoshop for years, I decided to give Illustrator a shot and looked for tutorials. Currently, I'm trying to follow this one: http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials/designing/quick-tip-how-to-create-a-retro-style-textured-logo/

One issue though, my shapes won't fill. This is how it currently looks: http://s14.directupload.net/images/130520/88jmfda5.jpg

Obviously, the shapes are not colored. Even if I set the color to red and draw a new rectangle, it is not filled...

Where's my problem?

Thanks in advance

Not exactly sure why it's not working but lets try.. Open the .ai file. (I take it the shapes on the image you provided were drawn in Illustrator?) Use the selection tool, and click on one of the shapes so that the whole Shape path is selected with a bounding box around it.

Got to the stroke / fill panel, & click on the square for fill, the outline square is the stroke. If you double click the square you can get the full color picker panel, and choose the desired color. Once you select & press enter, the shape should auto fill with the color you picked.

If it doesn't work, you can link me the file, & I'll take a look.
