How to create typography style/effect like this?

Hi all,
How to create something like this? The splash and "wear-off/dirty/not solid color" effect of each letter looks nice.

Its either hand painted text or a custom brush or custom font with added paint splashes etc, each color text will be on its own layer then some textures applied to the text as well as some possible styles ?.
