Hi, i wanted to select the objects of my painting, like a book, clothes and then paint it seperately, something like a mask. I see this on video a lot where the artist created the selection of the object by painting using some mask
tool, then can select the different mask.

You want to press "q" to get into quick mask mode and paint your selection in black whith the brush tool "b" and subtract with white. Hit q again to get out of quick mask and see what has been selected. Or google quick mask for a better explanation.

Hi mj,

Without an example of what your referring to it's hard to say. The manner of selection may depend on the object to be selected.

Is the object a photo image or a painted image on its own layer by itself or one that you've actually painted into a larger scene with other objects?

Isolating the whole image or parts of the image by masking an object on its own layer would be fairly simple. Removing an object, let's say a single book sitting on a table full of books, may be a little more involved.
