I have a photo of WTC1 - the tallest building in this photo, see wtc1_cropped.jpg. Now they are still finishing the construction, but in a few months it will be ready. I need to add the top part to this building so it looks like it's already completed, see wtc1_sample1.jpg, wtc1_sample2.jpg, etc .

Can anyone recommend me how to do this?

Thank you

there are already, images with it looking completed whatchutalkinboutwillis?

The first image is where WTC1 is under construction- I need to edit it and make it look completed. This is my own photo
I also attached several samples next, how it should look like completed.

you can clip out the one you need and desaurate it to the levels the best image I see that may work and position it in place using the transform tool,(COULD BE TRICKY BUT POSSIBLE), it may take some layers mode play around and brightness/contrast tweaks

Hey Michael, I agree with iDad! This would be a tricky manip. You must first need to clip out the upper (not constructed) portion of the building from another photo taken from the exact same perspective as yours which you would be unlikely to find. If you get them to align well, you would have to match the color, tone, lighting, sats, etc,.... of your original. It's very possible, but would be somewhat time consuming even for a seasoned Photoshopper.

As you can see here, alignment is an issue when the perspective is off.

I would suggest just rebuilding it yourself. Will explain in next post.

I wont do the whole thing but I will give you an idea of what I referring to.

The first thing is to remove any unwanted imagery from the original.

WTC1_01.jpg

Align (outer edges) and overlay another image to the original. Reduce opacity.

WTC1_02.jpg

Using the Pen Tool, create a template form the above step.

WTC1_03.jpg

Reduce the templates opacity. The template is just for reference points later.

Using the Pen Tool or the Polygonal Lasso Tool, create or outline the section of building to the left. The color is sampled from the original and fill the outlined section with sampled color.

WTC1_05.jpg

Repeat for the right side and the middle section.

WTC1_06.jpg

I also placed a layer below the these for the light white lines of the triangle. Sample the light lines for color.

WTC1_08.jpg

Once done, I combined the layers and added a mask to blend them to the original photo...

As I said, I won't finish this to completion, but you get the general idea!

I would just continue in this manner until complete. Don't forget to add details.

Thank you IamSam! this is a great idea. I was also thinking of drawing it myself instead of copying from another image but I was sure how to approach this.

Michael, this really is an easy technique that wont take to long to accomplish. There's really not a tool that will do this for you, it will take a little work on your part.

Given the perspective, lighting, and diffuse conditions of an overcast day, this is the one of the better ways to do do this with great results. Here's about 10 more minutes added to the 15 or so I had in it from my previous post......
