How to add a backgorund to a semi transparent icon (limited to the icon shape only)

Hello everyone and sorry if I can't find a better way to express my question (my English is not very good sadly).

I attach a screenshot to better explain my goal.
The fist layer is my semi transparent phone icon.
The second layer is a random image I want to use as see trough background for my icon.

I'd like to keep the phone shape only with the added see trough background.
Is there any simpler way other than deleting all the extra background to keep only the phone shape?

Thanks in advance!

create a new layer (ctrl+n)
put the background image on there.

Now on the right side of your screen, you can see the layers
drag the new layer below the other layers in that screen.

Thanks for the reply, but how to have a finished image which includes only my phone icon shape?

Have the phone on the bottom layer then hold alt and click between the layers. This will mask the top layer to the bottom.

Yes, I already tried that before but the result is still not what I am looking for. The "phone" gets colored from the clipping mask but it still remain transparent.
I'd like for the phone to look like exactly as in the screenshot I posted, as if seeing the bottom background trough the glass shape.

Okay. Then you need to copy the background layer (not the phone) and put that on the very bottom. Hold ctrl/cmd and click on the icon of the phone layer (this will create a selection of the phone), select the background layer again press ctrl+shift+i to invert the selection and press delete.

I had tried that too already but still doesn't work properly.
I guess the problem is my phone icon is made of mostly of semi transparent (different %s) pixels... if I ctrl+click on the thumbnail to select the phone image, it gets selected only partially (most of the semi transparent pixels doesn't get selected this way).

I was hoping there was some command to just get all the existing pixels (non transparent and semi transparent) from my icon.

Thanks again
