Hi, I am new to photoshop and this forum. I am trying to learn how to achieve the effects in the attached photos.

I am not sure what it is called so any help towards how I can learn how to alter the original photo to get the look from the finished picture, will be greatly appreciated.

Disregard the background effects. Specifically I am talking about how the dog in the finished photo looks almost like it is a drawing.

Sorry if this has been posted, I wasn't sure what to search for since I do not know what to call the effect.

Thank you,
P.A.

Welcome, 0netr1p....

It looks like the background effect has a vignette applied to it. The text is acchieved by grouping the text with a texture layer into a mask clipping group with an outer glow and bevel layer style applied to it. The dog has been selected from the original image and is in its own layer in the new image.

If you want to do an image like this, thare are a lot of topics in the forum about layer masks, clipping group , vignette and all other stuff you'll need. Just do a search for these topics....

Hope this helps.

The dog you were asking.....

As for the dog, its still the same image except that it's either retouched with airbrush with matching colors or precise handling with the smudge tool was applied to the fur or a combination of both....

and a bit levels adjustment to bring out the red tint.

Thank you for the info. You got me on the right track. Now I just need to learn how to do it.
