Hey folks. My first post. I'm quite familiar with PS, but for the life of me cannot figure out how this is done. What I'm speaking of specifically, is the swirly, random, stretched and extruded background, behind the text and logo, in this image. Is there more than PS going on? Searching the web has not helped, because the context is too random. "Swirly thing..."?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

I did a google search for images 'light swooshes and swirls graphic' There are variations that may help you sort it out. I found nothing exact, but I did find in the same spirit. It may help you deconstruct the image above.

it does look difficult, and i would say that it's possible it was made in photoshop, but i'd also say there's the possibility a 3d rendering program could possibly have been used with the aid of a plugin, such as; Cinema 4D or 3Ds Max

it'd be easier to say if there were similar images you could upload where the logo isnt taking up much of the space and the background didnt have a viginette, though i doubt you can help that.

It's possible in PS, but i'd see it taking alot of time for anyone trying to do the effect for the first time. It'd have to be drawing up basic outlines of the swirls with the pen tool, and then building up depth and colour with a soft brush.
