How do these guys do it?

Good afternoon and happy holidays.
One PS tutorial I've never seen anywhere is one that shows how these guys do it:
James Fridman or Kirby Jenner.

I know a fair amount about PS but to me what these guys do is amazing.
I don't believe it’s all cloning and selections; it would take an extreme amount of time to create these images.

What are their secrets?

You will need to be a little more specific. Instead of linking us to a whole page, why don't you upload one image from each and explain what it is about both that your trying to emulate.

Let me first provide links to overall websites because there's a such a wide range of what they do.

Whoever's doing the Kirby Jenner images not only adds him in all those photos but matches the light and color of the existing image very well.



James Friedman doesn't quite do as much as the other one but he manipulates and/or creates arms and legs and fingers and so on well.

Yes, but to the degree they do it.

I can add and manipulate to a they do it so well it's beyond anything I've seen someone do in PS tutorials.

I added the web pages previously so you could see the range. This is parady account of course with one of the famous Jenners but he "Kirby Jenner" is being completely added to all of these images. I assume he's not dressing up and having a picture of himself and then being added. I feel they are completely creating all of this. Of course they have his face etc but the rest I think is being created and then changed to match light and color near perfectly.

No, I think that's exactly what he does!

Kirby is notable and I think his biggest secret is that you have a plan. You study the image that you wish to manipulate and then you place yourself or your subject in the exact same circumstances and take a photo. In your example above, he matched the lighting, sitting position, etc., of the original photo. It's about being prepared.

Fridman is a well know Ps troll. Most of his edits are not that good. I think he just spends time searching image resources until he finds a close match..........no secrets there.

Okay for Kirby I think that's probably the start of it. I don't think they do the same circumstances with the clothing and everything not to mention many of the locations where the original Jenner pix were taken would be inaccessable and all over the place to boot. However I think you make a good observation in that he probably does pose and have his picture taken. I would think the rest is done with adjustment layers and cloning, etc.

I would disagree about Friedman though. He basically matches the look of the original photos but does a very good job of making realistic changes on body parts and positions. I wouldn't call him a troll though. His stuff is not mean-spirited and people submit their images for him to change knowing the outcome will likely be a humorous take.

Your right, he only does a GOOD job. He's not any better than the average Photoshopper. Don't sell yourself short, you can do his quality of work as well if you had as much practice as he does.

He got his start as a troll. If you take the time to Google him, his name is synonymous with troll! Bearing that in mind, I did not say I didn't like the guy. His work can be hilarious. However, in answering your question, I don't think he's as outstanding as you seem to believe he is. He has average Ps skills that anyone with a little practice can have as well. Like I stated before, his talent is more in taking the time in finding the right matches and knowing in what would make the edit funny.
