how do i mask two images?

Hey guy, new to this forum! :) i hope to learn alott

soo i need help putting my face onto a statue of the sphinx. my gf is a history major and she LOVES the ancient egyptian topic. i am hoping to do this for her birthday which is this thursday (i no kind of short notice, but i have been thinking and thinking and i wanted to do something very different and special for her) i wanted help form someone to put my face on there and the rest work i am doing by myself because the end project i want it to be perfect for her! so can some one help me out?

What version of Photoshop are you using?

The usual way to do this would be open both images in Photoshop, duplicate the layer of your face onto the sphinx image, use the transform tool (Ctrl+T) to get the position and size right, then mask out the parts of your face pic that are not needed with a simple pixel mask. Once you make a mask you can paint black onto it to hide the areas you don't want to show.
