Hi,

I was hoping someone could help explain or point me in the right direction to some tips in how I might go about putting a face/head from my own picture in an old photograph similar to the one below?

I've tried before but my composited head doesnt match the softness and damage of the old photo and therefore doesnt look real. Also, how would I google this question.. I am so clueless.

Mask your face into the original, but alter lighting and focus to match that of old image as close as you can.
Just playing around will normally give you good results, plus you can learn from it and remember more easily.

Thank for the replies guys :)

Do I use Gaussian blur to match focus? Me thinks lots of practice is a good tip and a bit more reading/googling.

maybe a patch tool will do..then desaturate, adjust the color/brightness to blend from the old photo..:D
