How do I imitate a sketched font?

I'm trying to create a logo for a website of mine which is based off the Sketch Rockwell font. The problem is, I want to create the same effect on the Minnesota outline as the font has. I'm having a hard time imitating the stripes on each letter of the font. The only thing that let me get close was using a brush preset, but it has transparency in the brush strokes which the font definitely doesn't. Any ideas how to do this better? Thanks for your help!
