For an example: In the picture I've provided, there is an arrow pointing towards a pen line. I want to get rid of that line without altering the other lines of the shape. Is this possible? Hopefully it is. Thanks in advance.

FWIW, the thin line you are pointing towards is actually called a "path", not a "pen line". This is distinguish it from the "stroked" (ie, thicker, solid black) pen lines elsewhere in the picture. Paths are not real pixels - they are just guides along which things can be made to happen. In contrast, the stroked lines are real pixels.

The path will not show up when you print the image, flatten it into a jpg, or perform any similar operation. If it's annoying to have it present, just go to the path palette and de-select it. If you have other paths present and you truly want to get rid of that particular closed path, but not any others, let me know and I can walk you through it.

I'm sorry I could not think of what to call the path. Yes, I know the rest. I'm wondering how to get rid of that one path, so when I stroke the line, it will not show up.

I am not sure if i understood the question correctly, but to what I understand..

Use Esc key twice after you stroke and it would go off... alternatively, to 'Path' next to 'Layers' and delete path..

You can toggle between the two selection tools by placing the white or black arrow on the path, not an anchor point, holding control/command and clicking.

If you just want to delete one anchor point and the path that was created from the previous anchor point, use the Direct selection tool (white arrow) and click on the desired anchor point and hit delete, this will remove all paths made between anchor point up to the one you selected.

You can toggle the direct selection tool while in the pen tool by holding the control/command key.

Tom posted while I was typing, I posted the same article!
