I'd like to create a similar design to this for a website. I know a little about Photoshop, but I have no idea where to start to create something like this.

What I think I see here is a selection is made of the curved line. Then you can make a gradient or run a soft brush or click it, along the edge of the selection and you will get that soft division. There's a name for this effect, a wallpaper creation I can't think of the name of. I've done it and these are the results.

Here is a small diagram:

Edge.png

Create a path. Make it a selection.
Pick a brush. In this case, I used a large, 100% soft brush set at 80%.
Then take a large hard brush and position it on the edge of your selection so that it creates the narrow to enlarging edge brightness. (the red circle) Use 100% of the color and click.
Or to make the above line, you can make another path or rotate the path/selection you have to create a more precise edge. To rotate the selection, activate the path, then go to select>transform selection, and rotate the corner handles.

That's what it is Sam, Windows Vista. I couldn't remember the version! The only change is the hard, bright edge which could be done by intersecting, but I think brushing the edge on is simple enough.

these sorta effects really useful if ur into web graphics. I want to learn more of these techniques thanks a lot Gurus.
