How can I smooth out rough pixel edges

Hi, how can I smooth out rough pixel borders and edges

Please see this image.

I would like to colour in the black line with white, But it will overlap and look messy.

I would like to have a clean line so that looks good.

Is there a tool that can help me smooth out jagged pixels.

This is lo-res image so can't really get a sharp edge. But you can use the pen tool to draw a straight line down the side of the gray column, then partialyl inside the column, and fill with the same color as the inside of the column. You can do the same with the white top.
