How can I remove the thin black border that defaults around images?

I am trying to create repeat patterns from an image I created but the thin black line that appears by default around my original image appears as 'seams' when I create the repeat patterns. How can I remove the black line that is there by default? (I didn't add it and cropping doesn't remove it)

I think you mean the black line that is part of your interface preferences as part of the program in general. Go to edit>preferences>interface on the PC, photoshop>preferences on the mac. The first two lines deal with border. Use the drop down menu and click none. But I don't understand the part about seams. Check your preferences and if that doesn't solve your problem, post a screen capture for us to look at.

In the meantime, someone may come by who knows the answer for you.
