I dont know how to create the background effect or what text font was used.

I need to do the same effect with a different phrase.

Can anyone give me some direction ?

Thanks in advance [excited]

Add a new layer
Select a rough brush, blue, paint background
Add a new layer
Font: Arial Narrow Special G1, bold
Add drop shadow
Add stroke, 1, outside, linear burn, blue

Close, but no kewpie doll...
If you look closely, you will see that the blue swash is actually the type phrase blued and motion blurred...

1. Create your type layer (white)
2. Duplicate and change the colour to blue - rasterize (layer>rasterize>type) and move this layer below your white type layer.
3. Apply the stroke & drop shadow to the top white type layer
4. Filter>Blur>Motion blur (0 degrees) the blue type layer.

Wow fantastic thank you all :)

Is there some kind of font reference page around ?

or do you just have to be fimiliar with fonts to tell what that is ?

It would be great if there was a page someone could refer me to that had a bunch of font types printed out and their coresponding names.

Thanks again !

you're picky but you don't show how it should be done :D

Gee, Blue, I figured the general directions were sufficient enough that it could be discerned that the change from brush to blurred type wouldn't be THAT much of a mind-bender, so I didn't have to "spoon feed" a step-by-step...Wendy seemed to figure it out quick enough, although she is pretty sharp with her PS expertise.

Try learning to think outside of expecting forums to do every little step for you, and learn to be able to visualize observations in context to what has already been described for you. You'll find your PS techniques will improve much more.

Well Madster, I knew how to do it, but I wanted you to show us.
I mean saying "A" is one thing...

I'm glad that someone showed us that she has the talents :D

Wendy you're great. The identifont url will come in handy. JustStarting glad you asked!! Stefan.

Madster is right: we learn more when we try to find a solution independantly by using the little grey cells and use good ol' trial and error.

And the observation is :righton:
I admit I hadn't really looked at it with enough attention.

This is the spirit I like.

OOps! [saywhat] Sorry, Mindbender! No offense!

Thank you, Eric, for your perception and appreciation. :} Back at 'cha!

I've been learning PS for over 5 years, no classes, little to no 'spoon-feeding,' just reading and practicing from on-line tutorials and books, with occasional challenges from various forums. I'm good, I'm not perfect, I know a lot of tricks, I can acheive some damned interesting results...

I wouldn't be half as good as I am today if I had waited/expected the answers to be given to me instead of discovering the mysteries myself, which is why I will gladly provide sign posts and hints, but seldom pre-chew the answers for the true seekers.

Wendy, again, great job at interpreting my observation.

Blue, as the old saying goes, "Want in one hand..."

;) You're welcome Stefan!

Yes, I agree with madster's observations and comments. ;)
Seems that the "mom" in me can't help but spoon-feed! [innocent]

Thank you all for your great feedback and assistance !

I'm still trying to find out the font and have been through Wendys link a few times now, but will keep trying.

Thanks again,

The step by steps are great, as I'm a real amature at these things.

/cheers

I did this one with Arial Black. This font will normally be on your puter.

It's small, but hen you click to close the eye-icons, you can see the two layers, and how the structure is built up.

If you're stuck , try to say as precisely as possible where, and we'll pull you through. (if you stretch your arm, we'll pull you out of the quicksand, but we won't jump in ourselves. :D )

:righton: Erik!
