How can I make this transparant

Hello,

I make some medals for my game site. And now I've got a problem with my silver medal. I cant make it transparant with the magic erasestick like I did with gold and bronze.

make oval selection arround the circle part
add rectangle selection
invert the selection and hit "delete" (the layer must be unlocked, if locked double click on it )
