Hi guys,

The size of this pic is so big that it's impossible to upload it to fb!! I waited so long and still it's not uploaded!! I made it smaller to 2500x2500 but still the uploading takes too much time!!

Here is the info:

So what is the best and easiest to do without loosing too much quality?

Regardless of the resolution that you upload to facebook it will downscale it to 2048. You may as well resize the image to this resolution before you upload. In Photoshop go to Image - Canvas size.

Also what format have you saved the pic in? For example, a compressed tif file will be larger than a jpg of the exact same image. Also, you can reduce the size of the pic (image>image size>50% for example) and the image will be scaled down along with the file size. Also check your resolution. For web destined images 72 pixels per inch is all you need in most cases. If your res is higher than this your file will be larger than nec.

2048?? So is that the height of the width?? And yes it's possible that what you say about that fb automatically resizes it but it took so long that i tried a few times and then gave up.. .

I saved it as a JPEG and the rest of the info is here:

First i shrinked it to 50% smaller but even that was way too big for fb.. . This was the size that was uploaded fast.

I resized it by creating a new document and then copied+pasted this pic into the document.. is that good???

So what is the actual file size? You can do it that was, but it's a bit long winded, I'd recommend resizing it using the method I mentioned above.

In Photoshop go to Image - Canvas size.

Edit: After reading that back I realized that was an unnecessary step. Just do File - Save to web, then adjust the resolution on there.

Hey man thank you very much and i tried with 'file' and then 'save to web' but then you got so many options.. i'm new to this.. . So what do you want me to do after i choose 'save for web' and which format i do have to choose: 'gif' 'jpeg' 'png8'???

For the task you are doing jpeg would be your best option. Also don't set the quality of the image above 10 (setting it to 11 or 12 won't give you any further image quality, but will greatly increase the file size). So what file size was it? Perhaps you have a really slow connection :)

Edit: Also I didn't answer your question about 2048. This is for the widest side, so it can handle a maximum of 2048x2048 without down-sampling it.
