How can I get this kind of deep Black & White picture?

Black and white adjustment layer and move the red slider up for whiter or down for darker and tweak with the rest

maybe add a slight contrast or levels adjustment as well

There are many, many ways to get deep blacks in Photoshop. I interpret your question as how can I darken an already dark tone, but not change lighter tones. The standard way to do this is using "curves". Just Google {curves photoshop tutorial}, and you will find many different hits such as:

I don't think you should be thinking about plug-ins just yet, but you should know that there is a commercial plug-in whose sole purpose is to give deep blacks. You might find the writeup very instructional:

For a quick and very dark looking effect try thresholds adjustment, if that is what you was after?

Tom I read the tut, and of course histograms come up. Do you have a tut or info on using the histograms for seeing the image?

I think thats what I mean ?
