How can I achieve this effect?

Hey Gurus!

I was wondering if anyone knew how I could create this texture effect for some kind of overlay.

I am also looking for a way that is fairly easy to animate as well, to give it an effect as if it were moving.

I really appreciate any help :D

Unfortunately the image you posted is so small I can hardly see the texture. Can you please post a larger version of that image.

Tom

Sure, sorry I was trying not to show the entire image as it is copy written and I was not sure if it mattered.

I added a second one as well. I am not interested in the shapes or eyes at all, just that visual effect within the blue and pink things.

Disregard my tut!

edit: Deleted the tut, it was not needed for this thread.

That gives me a bit to work with I suppose.

Ultimately, I want to to be animated. Digging a bit deeper, I found this, which is kind of what I am looking for in terms of animation.

If you look closely, the orange kind of moves. I do not really need the moving gradient along with it, just the base orange/blue/pink kind of texture and a way to animate it.

Still looking for this effect. I did find some cool Plasma Patterns..............they might work so take a look!

I mean, those would work I suppose. I am looking to make something like that from scratch so I can learn how to animate it as well.

And beautifully done , I must say..... with a complex frame timing that adds to the effect.

From what I can figure from studying the animation in PS frame by frame, there seems to be 3 or 4 separate animations taking place, one layered on top of another. The static shapes act as a mask to differentiate the individual activity.

If this were the case, that's a whole lot of layers to work with... 43 frames x 3 separate animations ,,,, thats a 129+ layers - confusing to do.

But there's a work around... do one animation sequence/set at a time.. do one and save that... open the gif in PS and add the next sequence of layers with the shape mask in the appropriate position, animate , save and so on.

The texture doesn't seem to look like a simple plasma pattern. It reminds me of dancing flames or smoke - altered to get that plasma look.

I could be wrong tho. The challenge to do something like this is tempting...... lol

The linked animation was done using 3D Rendering software, which means it does not necessarily belong in this forum exactly. I linked it because I am pretty sure it can be imitated in photoshop.

I am just wanting the effect over a bit of text for a web page, but I cannot seem to figure out how to create the texture and animate it. I was hoping I would find someone here who did.

In some ways, it can be imitated in Photoshop I'm certain of that. It just needs the right texture or at worse , a texture animation to use.

This is unlike any animation done by anyone here. For someone among us to find a solution to get that exact animation or something close to it may take a while.

I have time :) I am trying to figure it out myself as well in the meantime. Not having a whole lot of luck unfortunately. My skills, while fairly decent, are probably a lot more limited than that of many of the users here.
