A friend of mine came to me today and asked if I would do a logo for a friend of hers. So I figure that I would give it a try. I started off using AI and a few ideas she had for reference. Imported that into PS so I could save it as a jpeg so ya'll could see it and hopefully point me in the right direction. Go easy this is my first logo.

This will be going on T-shirts mainly.

Hershey,

It seems like a lot for a logo. What is the purpose of the organization, or event? That might help simplifiy the logo.

Yes, I agree with agentM. It would be better if you decided on the words or the initials only. Also, it is crowded into a box. The image should likely be smaller so that the text works better. Also, I would like to see better "agreement" of the font with the image. For one thing, the image is very strong and weighty. The font disappears and doesn't seem to me to reflect the shape. Final point, the outline of the model part of the image is very uneven. It needs to be pen tooled or masked brushed into smooth edges. Otherwise, it is very distracting and looks like something that was done hurriedly and not carefully.

I know this is a strong critique, but if you intend to do professional logos, they have to look clean and sharp. Believe me, I know how long it can take to get a feel for this kind of stuff. And I still can't claim to be a logo maker, just a paracticer!

It was kind of done in a hurry, just to get the idea down. I did remove those legs and made the image a little smaller. Any ideas on the type of font I should use? Like impact or something?

Oh, OK. Well, I played around with it anyway. I hope you don't mind. (too bad, so sad -- I had a supervisor used to say that to us if we whined!)The font I just chose at random from what I have. I would look for something more fitting but like you said, just an idea. BTW, why did you cut off the edges of the heart? And another oh btw, if I didn't say so, I really do like it!

I did another one. I am having a problem however, when I open the images into AI I can make them smooth, no jagged edges but once they open up in PS it looks like crap and I can't figure out how to fix it. If these don't work I'll talk to my friend tomorrow and see what she knows about "Hoop 4 Heel". I think it's a local thing in Indianapolis where she lives. So anyways here they are

My thoughts: Why not just do the whole thing in PS? It stayed clean when I did it. I personally liked the larger leg though it could be smaller if you feel like it overwhelms the heart hoop. Your 4 on this last one seems out of place by a bit. I think it is too close to the heart and it could be centered above the dip in the heart.

I thought this was a good way to get practice in with AI since I would be using it in school. Still learning how to use it. Anyways this is the last one, hopefully it works. I did try to put the legs back in but the more I thought about it...I just thought it might look weird on a t-shirt so I kept them out.
