Hi everyone,

I'm a jewelry designer and using Photoshop to edit my photos which will be put on a website I recently joined. I learned my photos are not good enough and I decided to wait until I have better photos before I publish them. At this point I want to keep it simple because time is money.

After watching 6 different tutorials, I finally learned enough to get some things done, but I'm not even sure if Photoshop will help because my work is rather intricate. The last problem I had was getting out of the quick selection tool.

I appreciate any help you can give me. I would like to get a shortcut. Photoshop is amazing and I wish I had the time to learn it properly.

Thank you!
Laura

Welcome to the forums Laura! What is the main thing you are trying to do with your photos? Cut them out, color correct them??

Hi Cory,

Thanks for responding!

Is my work too intricate to take out of a photo with a bad background and put on a white background. My first attempt looks pretty bad. I think everything else is okay.

If it is possible, can someone tell me how to get the marching ants to stop - in other words, how do I complete the edit and save?

Welcome to the forum, Laura.

Press CTRL+D to deselect the ants.

I presume the image is on a layer. Go to Menu>FILE>Save As ... a psd file ( PHOTOSHOP(*.PSD,.*PDD) )

or if you want the image without a background , save as a png ( *.PNG )

Saving it as a jpeg will automatically flatten the image and add a background color.
