Hi
I'm glad to have found this forum and before I made a purchase that would have been a lot less useful without the input this forum's saavy people can provide.
I'm a former working writer/photographer who got paid (made a living) for doing something I would have done for nothing. The skills -- and equipment -- I relied on then have been gathering dust for a few years now while I indulged interests I once wrote and photographed others doing -- outdoor sports and recreation, hobbies and lifestyles.
Now, I've finally got a home and office big enough to indulge the Daddy of all my interests. And, I've squirreled away enough to get a desktop that will allow me to realize the gold I think was beneath the surface of photography and writing I had to turn out to satisfy clients.
My big question: In buying a new desktop, what computer components should get primary attention and dollars? I don't want to go broke, but I do want to make sure I've got the equipment I need to mine those old photos and do justice to whatever new I add to my portfolio.
Thanks in advance, and I'm glad I took the time to find all of you.
