Hi everyone... introducing myself here ;) I am a part time photographer from sunny South Africa and absolutely in awe of the pp work photographers achieve using Photoshop... I use maybe 5% of CS6's capabilities, so would love to learn more from all the experts here.

One question please... is there a thread (and is it "pc") to load images where I love the editing style and ask if anyone knows how to replicate said style?

Hi Sean -

Glad to have you on board! Yes, it absolutely is "PC" to upload an image (or a link to one, but only after you have a half-dozen or so posts) and ask for suggestions about how it might have been done. There is no one thread. Just start your own. Also, there usually are several methods that all can lead to similar results, so be prepared for multiple responses. This is one of the ways we all continue to learn the techniques.

Finally, I should comment that many of the "looks" one sees in images arise from PS "actions", PS/ACR/LR "presets", commercial software plugins, etc., that only require "one button press" to get a particular "look". If any of us recognize a "look" derived from one of these sources, we'll tell you. Otherwise, more likely, we'll probably suggest a more lengthy method using the native tools supplied with PS.

BTW, the threads of this type that are the most useful, at least, IMHO, are the rare situations in which both before and after images are available. The reason is that the success of the processing usually depends dramatically on the starting image.

Fire away, fellow, and we'll try to help you out.

Cheers,

Tom

Tom : Thanks for the response. I will start trawling through the forums now and see where I am able to contribute something :) I agree with the point you made about the final image being very dependant on the original image... its why often when I use actions (or presets in Lightroom) I don't get the same effect, which why understanding how the action was "created" will help me develop my own style instead of copying the geniuses out there LOL

SPWA : Aaaah, good to see a SaFa on board here... sorry to hear about the rain in GB, but guess you have have SOME negatives every now and then given what a beautiful part of SA you live in hahahaha

Heya! Welcome to the boards. I hope that you will post some of your photography work here so I (and I'm sure a lot of others) can enjoy it. There's tons of creative types here so I'm sure you'll be learning lots about CS6 in no time at all.
