Hey everyone. Names Justin aka Shep (RL Nickname) short for my lastname Shepley.

Just managed to come across this community and seems very welcoming. I played around with Photoshop off and on over the past 5 or so years, but never got to deep into learning to do make stuff better aside of using fast easy plugins. As I am laid off, what better time to try make myself apart of the community and strive to become better at Photoshop in the meantime.

I design sites as a hobby too, nothing much over the past 5 years though, so with Photoshop, Ill also be diving into HTML5 and CSS2 / CSS3 to be back with the times, and hopefully try to get my foot into the Freelancing part of the gig within a month or two once Im caught back up, and get a new site made as well as purchasing a domain, but in due time =)

Anyways, look forward to becoming apart of the community, and taking part in contests as well as taking advantage of all the resources to try to get better at Photoshop. Should be seeing me around regularly (at least til I find a new job).

Cya around and look forward to receiving criticism, advice, and comments in regards to my upcoming efforts that I'll be sharing here.

Thanks,
Shep

Thanks. =) I spent the last few days off and on gathering Brushes, Gradients, Custom Shapes, and styles and I think I went a little overboard. Now Photoshop takes a few minutes to open up. I refrained from the past when I use to install a 2000font pack I downloaded, since that was annoying with a few minute boot time with that, so I think Im going to have to get a Brush Viewer and start weeding out the ones I dont plan to use or make folders to seperate em and only toss em in when I plan to use em, because this load up time hurts, and my pc is recently formatted, defragged, and all the good stuff, with 8gigs of ram, Dual Core 3.2ghz AMD, 1gig GTX480 Superclocked. I think im soon due for a CPU and Solid State Drive upgrades soon. :)

Hey Shep, welcome to PS Gurus and welcome back to Photoshop. Good luck with the job search too. Cheers, Clare

Thanks ibclare. Enjoying my stay so far. =) As for the job situation, I hope your luck helps! Hopefully find something local, since I have to drive over an hour just to find a $10/hr job, which is horrible. =( May end up just going to a Temp Agency for the meantime with a friend so we can split gas so it isn't a complete bust driving 2+hrs each day alone. Then again, fingers crossed on the Freelancing business but i know its easier said then done with the amount of Freelancers across the net now and with the economy being bad, I only managed to find 2 possible company's so far within a 200mile radius of me that may consider my offer on having a redesigned site.

Welcome to the forum, ShepX.

Take part in the activities. Post your queries and images created. You're in fine company.

Cheers

Thanks dv8_fx! =) Enjoyed some of your art I noticed from my short time here already.

Look forward to making myself known within the community.
