Well I need a LOT of help, but most of the help I need has nothing to do with Photoshop and I doubt there are that many shrinks on this website that can really help me! :D

I am a web designer and work with ASP.NET and other .NET technology.

I am currently rebuilding my Dad's website (renocasinochips) and want to make him a logo image that he will very much enjoy.

As you can tell by his website he collects buys/sells gaming chips of all sorts. His favorite chips are the older style chips with the metal inlays and classic clay molding.

Here is a picture of one of his favorite chips:
crystalbay.jpg

I wan to rebuild this chip in Photoshop from scratch and instead of the Crystal Bay Club in the metal inlay put Reno Casino Chips and then where the silk screen has the $100 put RenoCasinoChips .com or something to that effect. I might just put RCC or something like that.

Anyways, I have some experience in Photoshop but not a lot. How hard will this be to learn and create? Can anyone send me off in the right direction in order to start learning the aspects I would need to learn in order to make this happen.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Sam

Welcome to PSGurus, Sam.

Your Dad has an interesting hobby - old casino chips.

From what I see, you'll need to learn adding text along a path to create the new wordings. You may also need to learn Using the clone Tool in order to clone the gold texture onto the text. As well as adding a bevel or emboss effect layer.

All these can be found within the forum. Do a search for these highlighted subjects.

Have a great day.

Welcome Samuel SR. Nice idea for the logo. Good suggestions from dv8_fx.

I have design ideas.

As you can tell 'casino' is the longest word, like 'crystal' but it won't work in the same position. It is rather large for it's correct position. How about using the initials, as you said, in the gold area along with some kind of decorative symbol on either side to help fill the space. Then you could place the name as you also said in the middle. I would have the $100 faded behind it. I would also change the brown color so that it was a little less dull. That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input ibclare.

The idea is for me to build that chip from scratch and then I can make the areas where the text is the size I need regardless.

I for sure plan to change the color of the chip to something different, it will be something that compliments and matches the colors of the website when I am done with it. That style of chip comes in a variety of styles and colors depending on the casino and denomination.

I need to just start with making that metal insert I think, and then raising all the text and the text areas off of it and then filling in with a simulated clay. I have no clue how I am going to do this but I will spend whatever time it takes to figure it out.

I also do not want to have it sitting flat on the page like that scan is, it needs to sit at a bit of an angle so the edge is shown.

Here is a gold text effect I made from a tutorial. I hope you can follow the steps involved, but if not, you can always drag the fx onto the psd you're working on. You can change the colors and opacities and whatnot by going into the layer effects and seeing the settings.

I would also recommend you either make your separate components in separate psd's or keep things organized in groups. You are bound to get into more layers than you expect!

PM me if you use it and have questions.
