Ok, I have a client who has a dark picture, with a black/brown background, who wants the background taken out and placed on a white background page. I have tried and tried to get this picture out, but it is very difficult because a lot of the subject (herself), blends in with the background making the results look very croppy, no matter what techniques I use and she is determined to have this picture on her site.

This is the picture: http://www.ksard.com/jazmyn/bio.JPG

This was my first attempt: Recording Artist Jazmyn

This is my second attempt, http://www.ksard.com/jazmyn/biopic.jpg (still needs some cleaning up on the edges), but no matter how I get her body in, she is not satisfied with the hair, and it's hard to get the hair out when it blends in with the background and I have tried several techniques i.e. channels etc.

If I take the feathering off or the background shadow it looks horrible and very pixelated.

I don't know what to do and I've tried to explain this to her and she's not getting it, so maybe someone can suggest something on here.

Sigh, thank you LOL

I suggest select the black background with the magic wand(it will select portions of her also but thats ok after selecting it, copy paste on top of original >invert then meticulously erase........ the hair is alway a pita (no idea if you tried that yet) I just did it, the hair to tedious though for free LOL
