Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this kind of question, but anyways:

I'm trying to create a spiral that looks like the one below. Does anyone know how to do that or knows of a good tutorial that might help?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a utorial, but I can make a suggestion...

Create a layer with an ellipse. make a duplicate and move it below the original layer. transform the duplicate and position it in such a way that it creates the illusion of it spiralling downwards. delete uneeded parts.

Repeat the process until you have the spiral effect.

Hope this nutty idea helps you.

Thanks! Haven't really thought of that, lol. It still doesn't turn out the way I want it to though, but I guess that's because the original image is a photograph or at least looks very photographic.

I would think that you can draw the shape with the pen tool then stroke it with a brush and add fx to get what you want.

I think it's easier to make 3D spiral in some 3D program and import it to PS. AutoCAD, for example, can make perfect 3D spirals...

I made a broken spring, just a quick flick with the pen tool, then did a bevel and emboss effect, crude but it goes some way to helping i hope?
