Help with photo effect...I'm a newbie!

I would like to be able to do the following on some photos I have. The link takes you to a picture of a couple on a beach, but I am interested in the right hand side of the photo where it washes out into white...I have looked for something to do this within photoshop but can't seem to find anything...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use a linear gradient that goes from transparency to white.
