Help With Logo

Hi there,

I am looking for help in designing a logo for my consulting company. My company is called Wagner Designs and we are an engineering consulting firm. I am not very good with Photoshop and not a very artsy type person so I am looking for help from the community that knows best. I uploaded what I have so far but you can make it into anything you want. As for colors, looking to do black and silver or black, red, and yellow (German Flag colors). Hope some of you are interested in this.

thats cool. i like the W but i was kinda thinking of something other than just side by side. you know, a logo with W and D sorta how Tiger Woods has his TW or Roger Federer has his RF or Paul Jr. has JR. things like that. i might want black and red also instead

honestly, I do not think this is the right way to go about designing a logo. We have no idea what your company is about what you're trying to express, what exactly do you do? Do you have any branding? Do you have a message? Do you have an Outlook, a personality? What kind of Consulting do you do? What kind of design do you do? Who are your customers, what is your target group? All of this needs to go into the choice of fonts, choice of colour, choice of decoration etc. This is also what you see the great discrepancy of samples on offer here. No one actually really has an idea what you are trying to express.

I attach a couple of quick drafts. Just some type, then added a "." or a bar to add in the yellow you also wanted to see. Not a great an idea I don't think so, three colours are too much for this sort of Logo. But in any case all of this is fairly futile unless we really know what you're trying to achieve.

i understand all your points chrisatlemon. but really i think we can simplify this by creating a logo with the letters W and D like these logos. dont worry about color or anything else

Honestly, I'm a bit worried here:

1) if you just want to combine two letters, that's not simplifying it, that's making it even more complicated. Because then these letters have to be perfect. We have to know which ones to use, how to combine them and what message we want to put across.
2) if you cannot tell us what you're trying to achieve, that we cannot achieve it for you

The only with thing we can do is throw things at you. That will not do anyone any good. Logo design first and foremost is a thought process. I have the feeling you're trying to go for a cheapo solution or a lucky punch. If you do this that's exactly the logo you will get and this is exactly the message you will put forward.

Look at the logo underneath my forum alias. What do you think it expresses?

Look at this brand I developed recently with the customer (also a 2 letter logo). What do you think it expresses? Why do you think the letters are what they are? Why do you think the colours are what they are? What do you feel when you look at it? I can pretty much guarantee you that you will see and feel exactly what we intended you to see and feel.

Just throwing random letter combinations at you will not solve anything for anyone will be a waste of our time and yours. We could go on for weeks. If you were a customer of mine, I'd send you back home and tell you to come back in a week when you know what you want ;)

In other words, if you go to buy a car, the salesman will ask you what kind of car you would like. If you do not know whether you want the Mustang, an SUV, or a truck then we will ask you what you want it for and what you want to do with it. Unless you know that he cannot sell you a car. Or he will just sell you anything to make the sale and it probably won't do you any good.

Good luck!

Chris
