Hi everyone. I'm finding quite difficult in my middle 30's to get creative. Especially being back in Uni studying graphics surrounded by 18's, 19's old guys fresh of collage. I know once younger creativity wasn't a problem however now it's just doesn't come as easy or at all. I know graphics is something I want to do and something I enjoy. I do sketch but not as often as I should. I am beginner in photoshop, in design and illustrator as well. Wonder what the problem is. Whether it could be my age and gap I've had from designing (primary and college school - 15yrs ago lol) or its lack of skills in mention above graphic softwares. Any advise will be really appreciated.

Hi Hulk, welcome to the forum. You're in a slump. I've been there.

Back in school with 19 yr. olds - in my 40s - trying to crack the web design market. After about a year and a half I gave it up (dropped out of C++). But I learned new skills, including Photoshop and I'm glad I did. This forum will help you with your creativity. Believe me!

So yeah, learn those new skills and get invigorated by all that youthful exuberance. I was only judged by one person while I was there, and it was a teacher who thought only her little click of students who already worked on the school's website with her could do anything worth positive comment! I made it through her class and finally gave up the resentment. At least today I find it laughable.

Join in our discussions, participate in the challenges (look under contests), and post your work. Pretty soon, you'll be giving advice to newbies. And others. We're all learning. Don't forget, your artistic background is at least as important as your graphic skills. No, it is more important. Chin up, lol.

Thank you!

if you want inspiration, just look for it.
what I do is just browse through this http://wallbase.cc/toplist
It's cheesy but it works.

Just browse though a lot of art of the subject you need.
need building, look at an architecture gallery
just find a gallery of what you need.
Much easier to get inspired from examples, as a base
and to add new creative additions from that base.
