Hi Im new to this forum but have been using Photoshop for years

The problem i am having is, when i open Photoshop CS5 on my new Mac book pro it opens without any background. so i get the header and the toolbars all appearing but the main page area i can see the application that is open behind or the desktop image, if i change the View/screen mode/ full screen with toolbars it looks ok, i.e. it has a grey background and the picture i am working on is in the middle. When i close photoshop down and reopen it goes back to the way it was. All previous versions i have had have opened with the full screen mode on. Is there a box i can tick that will make it open in full screen mode when i open it. i have looked every where but for the life of me cannot find it

Any help would be most appreciated

Nick

Have you had a mac before? The grey BG is the default and the only way for PS in windows, but with the mac it is either way. I haven't used a mac in a couple yrs so I don't remember which is default but I think the open to desktop is. You can change that. Someone here will tell you where. If this isn't the problem, reply so the next mac user knows what you need.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, i have found it in Window/application frame, the mac opens as a default with no background, now happily it opens as i like it. Im sure there will be more things i will be asking, but will also help out others as and when my knowledge can help.

Cheers

Nick

huh, I guess it is. I never checked since I knew Windows didn't have the option. Must be.

The last time I had PS on a mac, it was on my iMac OS 9.2, PS6. I never even knew there was an option till I started watching lynda.com tutorials. I remembered that discussion and went back to the tutorial to see how to change it.
