Help with beard logo and/or outline of head (hair, ears, beard) for dj logo

I have had the idea of creating this new DJ logo for myself for a while. My alias being "Larry Beard" I want to incorporate the name into a beard, curving from one side to the next spelling it out. Can anyone inform me on how or where to start this. I also want to create a flowing cursive text that looks like hair and to make just an outline of my head with a blank face similar to the one an artist named Steve Aoki uses for some of his t-shirts etc. Any help would be great, I am using cs6.

I added pictures for reference!

Thanks.

This is just a matter of using one of the many background removal processes and adjustments along with the Brush Tool to eliminate unwanted areas.
This is one of my favorites. It's a alpha channel technique presented by Corey Barker. Here's another good AC technique vid.

Here are several others that may help:

I will definitely check them out after work thank you! The one Specifically with the words in the beard is super good but i wouldnt even know where to begin to turn a real picture of myself into either an all black and white or a cartoon version of myself. Let me know if you can help me with that, I will definitely check out the videos.

Thanks

I'm sure Sam can help you but maybe you should post your image and the exact wording that you want the beard to read give others a chance to think about best route to take do you have a beard already, that can be used as texture?

Yes I have a beard and some different pictures where it's longer or shorter. So should I just upload those pictures of myself?

Thanks much

That is total yup to you, if you go public with them. I suppose you can consider this, the more images you put out there the more people can have ideas to play with but you're risking other stealing portions of your ideas
We can help, so many here can, If you're looking for somebody to do it for you I suggest posting in freelance section and paying somebody for their time but if you're looking for help the more information out there the better. Eventually somebody will help for free but remember you usually get what you pay for.

I am going to use it for my business card and soundcloud account and things of the sort. I am fairly fluent with cs6 and have done some good work on there just clueless on how to begin this. I will upload the pictures later.

I keep seeing Beards here and keep expecting to find a little ZZ Top going on..........

Larry, before you post your photos, let me put a little tut together that might help you do it yourself, if that interests you?

Yes that would be great. Won't upload until late tonight if I did anyways... Let me know.

I may not get to it tonight. But I will try.

I have been playing with the photographs of different bearded men from the net and separating a beard is rather difficult. It's not like head hair which is fairly easy to separate.
Here's what I can tell you for sure..................you may have to re-photograph yourself! Take the photo with a white background in a white turtle neck! Seriously, this will definitely help with this fx. Unless you have a white beard then do just the opposite!

Sounds good or I will use a white towel or something of the sort. Tonight or tomorrow or whatever works for u man.

Will touch base soon.

On this example I did have to employ the entire bag of tricks! I mainly used an alpha channel technique to create a mostly black and white channel image. I posted the technique earlier. I used the INVERT technique along with the BRUSH TOOL set to a soft brush with a lowered opacity to lighten or darken areas that did not cooperate while using LEVEL adjustments.

I then used the finished A channel image to make the facial hair selection. I placed the selection on a new layer and filled it with black.

It sounds fairly easy, and it was for the most part, but I can see where this could be a challenge for someone with less experience in Photoshop. This is why I stated that if your serious about doing this to one of your own photos, taking your photo with a solid white background and a white or very light colored turtle neck would massively simplify this process.
