Help with a Plastic Window Glare Problem

I recently shot a picture, that has terrible background glare. Behind the couple was a plastic tent, that did not like camera flash. I've tried everything I know of to fix the problem, but so far when I do it looks like it's painted, not natural. How can I fix glare from a plastic window and have it look good?

A picture of the problem will generate thought and replies
not seeing it leaves many many questions as to the best process.

Thanks, and you are right. I don't have permission to post their photo to the web, so I will crop a portion of the problem and share. One second.

This is just the side view of the photo. Obviously it wasn't my focus as you can see. The entire background is like this.

Oh wow the entire background?
Any possibilities extracting them and using a new background?
Looking at it on an itouch right now.
Looks like a challenge for sure

try duplicating layer and the top layer change the layer more there are a bunch of options fir layer modes, check to see which one works best(if any)

Do it one section at a time, top is easiest, start there. Make a marquee around top half, now using Color Range select the highlights (save selection). Now run a marquee around bottom half and use Color Range to select tent color & any highlights (save selection).

Activate both selections and choose "solid Color" under layer styles. Find a color that blends into original darker color somewhat.
Activate both selections again, this time choose hue/saturation under layer styles. Fade back the saturation until background is normal looking.

There ya go...super quick way to kill the highlights and bring the background all into same color area. You may need to brush out some of the mask around the flowers to reveal the edges or any similar colors that got selected when doing background.

Scott thank you so much! I am going to try it.

And yes the section I posted is blurry, it wasn't my focus at all. The focus of the picture was not posted.

It might just be out of the focal range.

Edit: sorry, Suse, I did not see your post, but we posted the same thing!
